ITINERARY

DAY 1 Arrive Amsterdam

On arrival at Amsterdam Airport you are met and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, there's time to relax or perhaps to explore this  friendly city. This evening, we enjoy a welcome drink with our Tour Director and fellow travelling companions.

DAY 2 Amsterdam - Hamburg

After breakfast this morning,  our drive brings us to Groningen en route to the German border. From here we will continue our journey to Hamburg, where we spend the night. On our arrival, we will enjoy an orientation tour in this Hanseatic port which highlights this city's major points of interest. Dinner is served at our hotel this  evening. (BB D)

DAY 3 Hamburg - Copenhagen (2)

Today we island-hop as we travel via Lubeck en route to Puttgarden for the cruise across the Baelt to Rodbyhavn in southernmost Denmark. After we disembark we join our coach and enjoy a scenic drive to Denmark's capital, Copenhagen for two nights. (BB)

DAY 4 Copenhagen sightseeing & at leisure

Our morning sightseeing tour includes impressive highlights such as the Amalienborg and Christiansborg Palaces, and the Stock Exchange. Guarding the harbour we also see the Little Mermaid - the statue inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's sad fairytale. Then there's time at leisure to do as you please, perhaps visit the famous Tivoli Gardens amusement park. (SB)

DAY 5 Copenhagen - Stockholm (2)

Today our journey takes  us across the Oresund to Sweden. Then to Granna, at the head of Lake Vattern, and on Stockholm. Here the cobbled streets and medieval buildings of the Old Town contrast with today's ultra-modern city centre. (SB)

DAY 6 Stockholm sightseeing & at leisure

The charms of  this proud city are revealed on our morning sightseeing tour, highlighting the Royal Palace and a visit to the City Hall in its beautiful waterside  location. Later with time at leisure, why not wander the narrow back streets of the Old Town and maybe visit the Cathedral? (SB)

DAY 7 Stockholm - Orebro - Hamar

Our first stop is at the city of Orebro and then along the shores of Lake Vanern.  We continue through unspoiled Varmland and alongside the Glomma River, before a late afternoon arrival at our hotel in the pleasant surroundings of lakeside Hamar. (SB D)

DAY 8 Hamar - Lillehammer - Lom - Geiranger  (2)

Today we drive along the shores of Lake Mjosa to the Olympic  town of Lillehammer and through the Gudbrandsdal Valley. Next we stop to visit a traditional Stave Church at Lom before heading into the snow-clad mountains and breathtaking fjord scenery to Geiranger and our fjord-side  hotel for two nights. (SB D)

DAY 9 Geiranger at leisure

You have a full day to enjoy and relax in this fjord gem, renowned for its beauty and unforgettable views. Later, perhaps consider an excursion to Trollstigen, ladder of the Trolls, or walk along  marked trails through an incomparable landscape. (SB D)

DAY 10 Geiranger - Fjord Cruise - Sognefjord (Leikanger)

This morning we see the Storfoss Falls, then have your cameras ready on our cruise along Geirangerfjord to Hellesylt, with views of the Seven Sisters Waterfalls.  Next, we will travel past the resorts of Loen and Olden, viewing the imposing Baya  glacier, before reaching the 130-mile long Sognefjord. (SB D)

DAY 11 Sognefjord (Leikanger) - Bergen

Today, Sognefjord  is left behind on the ascent of Vikafjell to the village of Voss.  From here we descend to Bergen, Norway's most cultural and naturally beautiful city. On our arrival an orientation tour features its colourful harbourside. (SB  D)

DAY 12 Bergen - Geilo After breakfast this morning,  enjoy some time at leisure. From here our journey will take us east across Eidefjord  via the Voringfoss waterfall - Norway's most admired. Then we  continue across the bleak Hardangervidda to the resort of Geilo for the night. (SB  D)

DAY 13 Geilo - Oslo (2)

Today's journey takes us through the narrow Hallingdal Valley to emerge among the Ringerike.  Later, we wiill enjoy more beautiful scenery as we drive between the Steinsfjord and Tyrifjord to Oslo, Norway's capital, where we spend the next two nights. (SB)

DAY 14 Oslo sightseeing & at leisure

Our guided sightseeing  tour reveals the spacious square containing the Old Cathedral and the  Royal Palace, before a visit to the Vigeland Sculpture Park. With time at leisure the Kon-Tiki raft, the Holmenkollen Olympic ski-jump or shopping for sweaters  and silverware are some of the other tempting attractions. (SB)

DAY 15 Oslo - At Sea

Your morning's free before we drive  to Kristiansand to board our ship for our overnight mini-cruise across the North Sea to England. The liner has bars, restaurants and a nightclub, plus all cabins have a shower and private facilities. (SB D)

DAY 16 At Sea - Newcastle - London

After docking  this morning at Newcastle, our coach brings us to London arriving late afternoon. (SB)
