DAY 1 London - Stonehenge - Bath - Cardiff A warm welcome from our Tour Director before we travel via Hampton Court to Salisbury Plain where we visit the mysterious stone circle at Stonehenge. Later, we view beautiful Salisbury Cathedral on our way to Bath. Here we tour the Roman Baths before we cross the Severn Bridge to Cardiff, capital of Wales. This evening, we enjoy a welcome drink with our Tour Director before dinner at our hotel. (D) DAY 2 Cardiff - Pembroke - Waterford This morning after breakfast there's a chance to view Cardiff's imposing Castle before driving across South Wales via Carmarthen, Merlin the Wizard's birthplace. Next we head to Pembroke where we board our ferry for Rosslare in Ireland. On our arrival we drive to Waterford for dinner and overnight. (FB D) DAY 3 Waterford - Blarney - Killarney Today our first stop is a visit to the Waterford Crystal showroom, afterwards we drive along the coast through Youghal and Cork. Nearby, we visit Blarney Castle - a chance to kiss the stone and acquire the 'gift of the gab'. From here we continue over the mountains to Killarney. We dine at our hotel this evening. (FB D) DAY 4 Killarney - Ring of Kerry - Limerick Today our scenic coastal drive takes us around the 'Ring of Kerry' - is a photographer's delight. Then north to County Limerick, through Adare, the prettiest village in Ireland. Perhaps visit Bunratty Castle and Folk Park en route to our hotel in Limerick. Why not enjoy an Irish Ceilidh tonight? (FB) DAY 5 Limerick - Dublin (2) After a full Irish breakfast this morning we drive across County Clare en route to Galway Bay. We stop in Galway then head across Ireland's rich farmland to Dublin, Ireland's capital. (FB) DAY 6 Dublin sightseeing & at leisure This morning's sightseeing tour of Dublin's 'fair city' shows us Trinity College, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Phoenix Park and the Georgian Squares. The rest of your day is at leisure. You may wish to take an optional excursion and still have time to shop for Irish tweeds and linen in O'Connell or Henry Streets. Perhaps join your fellow travelling companions at an Irish cabaret this evening. (FB) DAY 7 Dublin - Chester This morning from Dublin Bay we cross the Irish Sea to Holyhead on the Welsh island of Anglesey. Next across the Britannia Bridge, we continue through North Wales and past Snowdonia National Park. On to Roman Chester where we see its Tudor architecture and galleried shops known as the 'Rows' before heading to our hotel. (FB D) DAY 8 Chester - Lake District - Edinburgh (2) We enjoy a morning scenic drive through the beautiful Lake District to visit Grasmere. Next we cross the Scottish border to Moffat Woollens before reaching the Scottish capital - Edinburgh for our two-night stay. This evening, we enjoy Scottish hospitality at dinner in a local restaurant.During the Festival, we include tickets to the spectacular Edinburgh Tattoo. (FB) (HD) DAY 9 Edinburgh sightseeing & at leisure Morning sightseeing includes a visit to the Castle and views of Holyrood House. Then enjoy time at leisure to perhaps explore on your own. You may wish to shop for tartans and tweeds or simply relax with a cup of tea and sample some mouth-watering shortbread. Tonight, why not enjoy a Scottish night out? (FB) DAY 10 Edinburgh - York - Harrogate Through the Scottish Borderlands, we stop to see the ruined Jedburgh Abbey. Then into England, through the Northumberland National Park for a photo stop at Hadrian's Wall. Next on to York where our Tour Director walks us through the 'Shambles' with time to admire the Minster. Tonight, we enjoy typical Yorkshire hospitality at dinner in a local pub before reaching our hotel at Harrogate. (FB) (HD) DAY 11 Harrogate - Wedgwood - Coventry - Solihull This morning enjoy some free time in this charming town. Later, we make our way to The Potteries where we visit the famous Wedgwood Pottery Centre. From here we continue to Coventry to see its two Cathedrals before reaching our hotel in Solihull for dinner and overnight stay. (FB D) DAY 12 Solihull - Stratford - Oxford - London Today we view Anne Hathaway's cottage en route to Stratford-upon-Avon to visit Shakespeare's birthplace. Next a scenic drive through the Cotswolds to the little churchyard at Bladon to see Sir Winston Churchill's grave. Later, at Oxford we visit one of the famous Colleges (or the Sheldonian theatre when the Colleges are closed). From here our journey heads back to London. (FB) |
