ITINERARY

DAY 1 Arrive Berlin (2)

On arrival at Berlin's Tegel airport you are met and transferred to your hotel. There's time to relax and unwind before meeting with your Tour Director and fellow passengers this evening for a welcome drink. Tonight, why not try out some of this city's lively nightlife?

DAY 2 Berlin sightseeing & at leisure

This city's history  is highlighted on our morning guided sightseeing tour. We'll see the  Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, Kurfurstendamm and much more. Later, why not  visit nearby Potsdam or the Pergamon on Museum Island? Berlin's nightlife is famous,  you may wish to sample some of it this evening. (BB)

DAY 3 Berlin - Warsaw (2)

This morning's journey takes us first to the German border town of Frankfurt-an-der-Oder. Then we continue into Poland, stopping at Poznan, with its charming City Hall and Gothic churches. Later, we will cross the central plains of Poland to the capital, Warsaw.  Tonight, perhaps listen to a Chopin recital. (BB D)

DAY 4 Warsaw sightseeing & at leisure

After breakfast  we experience a miracle of reconstruction and conservation on our morning sightseeing  tour which reveals the historic centre where much of the Old Town was rebuilt after the war. We will also see the site of the Warsaw Ghetto. This  evening, we enjoy dinner in a typical restaurant. (BB) (HD)

DAY 5 Warsaw - Brest Litovsk - Minsk

We cross the River Vistula to the Polish frontier. Soon we stop for lunch at Brest Litovsk before continuing via the Pripet Marshes and the Plains of White Russia to historic Minsk. Here an orientation shows us Leninsky Prospekt and Victory Square. This evening, we will enjoy a dinner of traditional cuisine  at our hotel. (BB L D)

DAY 6 Minsk - Smolensk - Moscow (2)

An early departure as we drive through the countryside of Belarus. We cross the border into Russia with a stop at Smolensk for lunch. Then we continue via Borodino, site of Napoleon's great defeat en route to fascinating Moscow, where we spend the next two nights. (B L D)

DAY 7 Moscow sightseeing & at leisure

Our morning sightseeing  tour features such highlights as Red Square, St. Basil's domed Cathedral and the Kremlin Walls. Then enjoy free time to maybe visit St. Sergius Monastery  and handicraft market. Later, your evening is at leisure. (B)

DAY 8 Moscow at leisure - Overnight Train to St. Petersburg

A full day at leisure to do as you please. Perhaps take an excursion to the Tsar's Treasury Chamber or explore the Moscow Metro. Tonight before we board our overnight  train to St. Petersburg, dinner is at a local restaurant. (B D)

DAY 9 St. Petersburg (3) - Sightseeing

We arrive in St. Petersburg this morning for our three-night stay. On our arrival The Tsar's Winter Palace, Nevsky Prospekt, Peter and Paul fortress, St. Isaac's Cathedral, the Russian museum and the statue of Peter the Great are all highlighted  on our morning sightseeing tour. This evening, we will enjoy complimentary  champagne with dinner at our hotel. (B D)

DAYS 10 & 11 St. Petersburg sightseeing & at leisure

Enjoy two full days at leisure with optional excursions available. Maybe head to Petrodvorets, on the shores of the Gulf of Finland and visit the Summer Palace of Peter the Great. On our second morning we enjoy a visit to one of the world's largest and most valuable Art collections, The Hermitage Museum,  set in the splendour of the Winter Palace. Perhaps on one evening visit a theatre for a Russian folklore show or enjoy a ballet performance. (B D, B)

DAY 12 St. Petersburg - Helsinki

This morning, we leave Russia to drive through the forests of Karelia to the Finnish border.  Then past the timber centre of Kotka and on to the Finnish capital of Helsinki.  This evening why not enjoy some of the local cuisine? (B)

DAY 13 Helsinki sightseeing - At Sea

Our guided sightseeing tour this morning shows us Finlandia Hall, the Senate and Market squares,  broad boulevards and the domed Russian Church. Then enjoy time at leisure perhaps to shop and sightsee further. Later we will board our Silja Line ship for an overnight  mini-cruise from Finland to Sweden. (SB D)

DAY 14 At Sea - Stockholm

An early morning arrival in Stockholm,  Sweden's capital. Here a guided sightseeing tour features the Royal Palace and a visit to the City Hall. Then there's time on your own to wander through  the old town or do some window shopping. Tonight, perhaps enjoy a candlelit dinner  on the island of Djurgarden. (SB)

DAY 15 Stockholm - Copenhagen (2)

We travel past Lake Vattern and enjoy views of the Brahehus Castle. Then on through  the forests and meadows of Smaland before crossing the Oresund to Denmark  and its cosmopolitan capital, Copenhagen. Your evening is at leisure. (SB)

DAY 16 Copenhagen sightseeing & at leisure

The Little Mermaid, Renaissance Stock Exchange, the Royal Amalienborg Palace and Christiansborg Palace all feature on our morning sightseeing tour. Then the remainder of your day is at leisure. This evening, why not visit the famous Tivoli Gardens and enjoy a traditional Danish dinner? (SB)

DAY 17 Depart Copenhagen

This morning after breakfast there's time to bid farewell to your new-found friends and your Tour Director as we transfer you to the airport for your return flight home. (SB)
